“We orchestrate eco-systems by bringing together technology and best practices for sustained economic growth, ecological protection and climate action.”
How it all started
Firefly Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 2012, as an initiative of Connect Ventures with a focus in Nanotechnology and Agriculture. Over the years Firefly Life Sciences has matured into a complete business ecosystem operating across several verticals such as Biological Water Treatment, Solid Waste Management, Permaculture, and Next Generation Agricultural Technologies that are sustainable, ecological and economical. The term we use is “Economically Efficient Ecology”

At our manufacturing facility, Firefly’s in-house scientists develop microbial and bio-based solutions for pest management, disease management, plant nutrition, and water management in agriculture. Our formulations are designed to support total crop health by strengthening plant immunity, improving nutrient availability, managing biotic stress, and enhancing soil and water efficiency.
Firefly offers biophilic design as a service that integrates nature into built environments through living landscapes, water systems, natural materials, and ecological patterns. Our approach goes beyond aesthetics to create spaces that support well-being, improve comfort, and strengthen the connection between people and nature. By thoughtfully weaving plants, light, water, and natural processes into architecture and outdoor spaces, we design environments that are healthier, more resilient, and deeply rooted in living systems.
Firefly’s continuously improving protocols and practices in the fields of Bio Methanation and Constructed Wetland Treatment are developed with IISC, Bangalore (The Centre for Sustainable Technologies) as a key advisor. CST is an interdisciplinary research and technology development centre for providing sustainable solutions to global concerns, primarily dealing with energy, buildings and environment, with a focus on local resource optimization and decentralization.
Our R&D center is incubated at CSIR-CFTRI - Central for Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, an NABL accredited laboratory. It is dedicated to preventive health care and performance optimization through innovative and nutritionally rich food formulations; as well as environmental protection through eco-friendly packaging innovation. Our team has expertise in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, Carbohydrate Chemistry, Protein Chemistry and Technology Scale-up.
For over 15 years, Firefly has developed and operated multiple on-ground exemplars that demonstrate practical, scalable models of regenerative agriculture and living water systems.
Our exemplars also serve as research, demonstration, and learning environments for students, scientists, institutions, and international collaborators seeking to study, replicate, or scale regenerative agriculture and living water systems across diverse contexts.
Firefly’s climate education programs transform gardens and farms into living classrooms. Through hands-on, play-based, and systems-oriented learning, children and educators engage directly with soil, water, plants, and waste to build climate literacy rooted in care and observation. Our programs integrate science, ecology, food systems, and sustainability into everyday learning, fostering curiosity, responsibility, and long-term ecological thinking beyond textbooks.
Firefly’s strength lies in taking an agricultural commodity through a life cycle in which its market, nutritional and ecological values are identified and enhanced through high quality and novel food processing techniques. The development of high quality and functional products leads to an expanded customer base for the commodity and increased revenue for the producer or farmer of the commodity.
Firefly collaborates with Phitons Bioengineering to integrate advanced, bio-based material innovations into agricultural and waste-management systems. Using Phitons’ patented starch-based biodegradable technology, we develop functional alternatives to conventional plastics that are designed to safely return to the soil at the end of their life cycle. Our collaboration includes compostable agri-bags, mulch sheets, and waste-collection solutions that support regenerative agriculture, reduce plastic pollution, and eliminate long-term microplastic impacts.
